Slash V Skipa Star x Slash V Bittersweet Frosting

These two dogs have produced some very exciting offspring.  We kept a son, our "Smokey," Slash V Steel Smoke.

I have had the privilege of "meeting" two of Smokey's littermate sisters since they left us when they were eight weeks old.  These two girls are one of the reasons we feel confident that keeping Smokey for our breeding program will have been the right decision!

Slash V Shelby...winner of the 2004 Bluebonnet Futurity

I met Smokey's sister, Shelby, just recently and her story can be found on Shelby's page.  She has had more exposure to the public since she won the Bluebonnet Futurity in the spring of 2004 and is the "famous" member of the first litter out of Skip and Whitney.  She too is in a special home where she is loved and appreciated by her owners, Larry and Karen Henderson, and by her trainer Larry Teaff.  All I can say about Shelby is that she is dynamite!  I know she is a nice sheep dog but I only saw her work on cattle that day.  To say she can handle both ends is putting it mildly and one thing I love to see and saw in both of these two is pure stock savvy.  As a breeder I can honestly say you don't get one dog of this quality in every litter - and only so many in a lifetime.  This was one of those special litters that turned out like it was designed to be!

Slash V Skipin Sweets "Bailie"

We saw Thelma Hickman (from Oklahoma) with Bailie at a clinic at the Harts in 2003.  It was Bailie's first time away from home and she was very much at ease with us.  Then Thelma took her out in about a 100 acre pasture to see what she would do on the 50 head of cattle.  Bailie had been working at home since she was too young to be doing so - climbing out of her pen to haunt the calves close by the house.  That day she showed us the calm quiet confidence we like to see in a cattle dog and the ability to work both ends with ease.  Added to her talent on stock and her nice personality was the fact she is sound and correct and just plain cute.  Bailie has not been trialed, but she is exactly what we are breeding for - a much loved companion and cattle dog who works on a ranch without formal training!
