P O I S O I N U H L H I S T O R Y
When I was a teenager, a man of my age was considered "elderly". Boy, how times have changed! The body occasionally feels my 61 years. However, in spite of Post-Polio Syndrome, diabetes, and high blood pressure, most of the time I feel much younger than the calendar says that I am.
My grandfather frequently said that the fastest way to die was to stop using your mind and body. Maybe that's why he was active (working six days a week, working in his garden, traveling, etc.) right up to the time he had a stroke about six weeks before his 95th birthday. In fact, he was in Washington, DC, on a tour with what the called the "old folks" when the stroke occurred. With his admonition in mind, I plan to read, write, and try to learn more about using my computer as long as possible.
That is also one reason why my wife and I continue to work on materials for the Central Texas Genealogy Library & Research Center.
