Food Storage for $5.00 a Week
Week 7: 20 lbs. sugar
The Cannery sugar is $3.18 for a 6.1 lb can, $3.45 for a 7.1 lb pouch, or $10.25 for a 25 lb bag.
When canning sugar you do not need to put an oxygen absorber in the can, it will cause the sugar to harden. If the sugar hardens, let it stand overnight in a sealed jar with a damp paper towel or apple slice. For a quick fix, heat the needed amount in a 250 degree oven for a few minutes, or microwave on low for 1-2 minutes per cup. Use immediately.
*Note: This plan should be enough to sustain two people for one year. For every two
people in your family add $5.00 more and double the amount of the item you are buying that
week.
Remember to date each item when you buy it and use the oldest first.
