We strive to have wethers born in the Fall, February/March, and May/June. Our experience has been that a fall born wethers will catch and surpass the growth of a July born wether so July born wethers will be limited to mostly accidents. Each year we offer our spring born wethers in our Wether Auction, usually the Saturday prior to Labor Day weekend. Please refer to our Wether Auction link above to see the most up-to-date information and details. The table below will show how many wethers we have by month of birth. All wethers, except for the May borns, will be sold at private treaty.
It takes more time and effort on our part, but all of our wethers, while still nursing, will be dehorned, castrated with rubber bands followed by knife removal 4 to 7 days later (for a cleaner underline), have their waddles removed (for a cleaner neckline), wormed regularly, vaccinated for sore mouth, and vaccinated behind the front leg for over-eating disease, tetanus, and pneumonia (to avoid unsightly knots). Additionally, we start creeping all of our kids as soon as they will eat. This means you can take a healthy, healed, on-feed wether home that's ready to go into your show pen with as little stress as one can manage. Nothing is more disappointing than picking that just right goat only to have him "crash" at home because too many stressful things had to be done to him too late in his life. We try to take the stress out of life for your show wether so he won't add stress to you!

We have 20 Does bred to kid in late January and early February. These wethers will be sold private treaty starting in early April of 2009. They should work for jackpots, summer County shows, the State Fair of Texas, and early winter shows! |
