GRUMPY'S PLAYGTOUND

Navy Page

Grumpy's Navy Page

I retired from the navy with 20 years service in July of 1970 as a GMTC.

I drove truck After that untill I retired for good.

I am going to put pictures on this page of all the ships I served on, and maby some more that I have colected from my trips on the web. I will be adding links that I think may be of intrest to other navy men, both active and retired.

One reason I want this page on the net is to let every one know I am around, in hopes that some of my old shipmates will see it ans get in touch with me again. I have lost track of just about all the people that I knew while in the navy.

USS Stickell DD888

This was my first ship, serving off the coast of Korea.

USS Henderson DD785

Henderson was my second ship, also on station off the coast of Korea

USS Trathen DD530

Also on station in Korea, The trathen was my last destroyer. I made a world cruse aboard this ship.

USS Boxer CVS21

This is my first carier. She was a CVS when I was aboard. Hope to find a better picture.

USS Hancock CVA19

Hancock was my second carier

USS Independence CVA 62

I understand that Indy is goingh out of comission soon, which will mean that none of the ships I served on will be in commission any more.

She was my last.

I also served on a few shore stations, winding up my time in the navy at COMFAIRHAWAII, as Air Weapons Chief.

I am sure that if you were ever aboard destroyers, you will remember sights like these.

It has been a long time, but I still remember the ship rolling around, the getting wet

topside, and all the other things that goes with it.

If you remember me, please leave me e-mail so I can get back to you. I would like very much to re establish contact with former crew mrmbers.

Would also like to talk with any navy personnel, both retired and active.
