Our purebred red brangus herd is almost foundation stock.

We bought the orginal old cows and the lease on their pasture from an estate. A local old timer couple had bought them as registered cattle in the early 60’s from the Paleface Ranch at Spicewood, Texas, (the founder of the red brangues cattle) The old man soon died and his widow and their lifelong hired hand continued the herd. She always bought heard bulls from Paleface, we were told.

When the city son liquidated and we got the herd, the cows and the herdsman were both past retirement age. We pampered the old gals along into their teens while we accumulated a high quality set of young cows.
