ISAAC G. GRISHAM

Parents:  __?__ Grisham  and Nancy __?__

Grandfather:  George Gresham, Sr. --Traditionally

Wives: (1) Elizabeth Mason
           (2) Sarah Elizabeth Mason
           (3) Sarah Jane Beggs

Born: 26 August, Lawrence County, TN
Died: 05 June, 1927, Henderson County, TX

Elizabeth (Mason) Grisham, first wife of Isaac Grisham was the daughter of Gillie (Olive) Mason and her first husband--OR she may have been the daughter of Mr. Mason.  After Mr. Mason's death Gillie assumed care of her daughter/step-daughter.  In 1850 Elizabeth was enumerated as Elizabeth Grisham in the home of A. J. and Gillie Grisham in Tishomingo County, MS.

In 1860 Isaac G. and Elizabeth (Mason) Grisham were enumerated immediately after Andrew Jackson and Gillie Grisham in Tishomingo County, MS.

Isaac G. "Black Ike" Grisham was a first cousin of Isaac C. "Red Ike" Grisham, who was a son of George Washington Grisham, Jr., who was the oldest son of George Gresham, Sr.  and his first wife, Miss Waugh.  "Black Ike," who had black hair, and "Red Ike," who had red hair, were contemporaries in old Tishomingo County, MS, and after 1870 in Prentiss County, MS. [Source:  Dr. Lee Williamson, husband of Mary Wyley Grisham, a great-granddaughter of Isaac G. "Black Ike." Grisham]

If Isaac G. "Black Ike" were a first cousin of Isaac C. "Red Ike," then Isaac G. "Black Ike" was a grandson of George Gresham Sr., who died in Lawrence County, TN, in 1852.  I have found nothing to identify the father of Isaac G.  Isaac G.'s father would have been a brother of George Washington Grisham, Jr.

The mother of Isaac G. "Black Ike" was Nancy, who was born about 1807.  Nancy might have been the widow of Isaac Grisham who died in Lawrence County, TN, in 1838.    If she were the widow of the Isaac Grisham who died in 1838, it appears that she married another Grisham who also died before 1870.  All of her children used the surname Grisham.

Children of Nancy Grisham--mother if Isaac G. Grisham
