Are There NO Modern Apostles?
THE requirements for being an
Apostle are first and foremost that the man who is truly
an Apostle must have been a disciple of the true Savior,
and secondly he must have received a personal and direct
calling from the Messiah Himself! How many can lay
claim to this kind of calling today?
BEYOND a personal calling or commission, what else makes an Apostle? All of the Apostles in scripture were proselytizers, who sought converts to the pure truth from all the pagan religions that predominated the ancient world.
However, today this is more than just a little difficult. Then, an Apostle could walk into a town or city and seek out a public square, where religious or political debate was commonly engaged by the local citizens.
They usually welcomed new or different ideas and concepts, at least in terms of giving them a fair hearing. Compare that with our modern western world, for example!
A Taste For Rebellion!
Today, unlike the ancient gentile pagans, Americans and Britons, for example, are for the most part, unrepentantly political and just as religiously opinionated.
Our peoples are usually unwilling to hear any different point of view, afraid that we may have to admit error, or give in and surrender to an "enemy" point of view or idea.
We seemingly thrive on belligerent obstinacy and competitive one-upmanship. No matter how ill informed of the facts we are, we tend to foolishly believe we already have all the answers, just so long as we can "win the argument," whether by force of deceit, or even by brute force, if necessary.
"Winning" or "being right" is the main object, regardless of whether or not our "right" is actually true.
Most "win" by playing possum, however. They pretend, irregardless of the facts presented to them, that they already know the truth, and therefore the facts must somehow be wrong, even if they can't quite prove it!
Who could teach such stubborn, rebellious people? How can there be any true apostles to lead these reluctant, recalcitrant, and totally unwilling blind and deaf "believers" into the light of true belief?
All they deserve, and all they'll get, are prophets of judgment, to warn them of what awaits in the near future, and these visions are neither very pretty nor appealing!
Any apostles they have, therefore, are totally false "apostles," refusing to teach the difference between pagan falsehoods and true obedience or salvation.
Why Only False Apostles?
Where are there any true apostles today?
They await an era of much less affluence; a time when freedom will be at a premium and social upheaval runs rampant.
Then, when humility is more in evidence, and despair drives individuals to truly have a change of heart--when their numbers are diminished and luxuries are few, when death stalks them and slave labor is their daily lot in life--only then will these peoples turn and listen to those who offer them the pure truth!
But first, they will have to learn the bitter lesson of trusting in false faiths and corrupt leaders, teaching them false "truth," and of utterly refusing to hear the true facts, which could spare and save them from the tragedy that swiftly approaches, in the darkest depths of night, while most are asleep and unaware of its hideous presence.
Indeed, it is even at the door, scratching and clawing to get through, drooling over the prospect of the gory feast it desires to make of all those who await ignorantly, almost within its grasp.
Our Spiritual Duty
Pray for these people. And pray for yourself; that you and they may be open-minded enough to listen and give heed NOW, before it's too late!
Then, perhaps, you might be spared and granted protection against what is surely on its way. Pray that you will be found worthy of finding a way of escape from the troubles that will soon descend upon this evil generation of foolish religious rebels.
Perhaps, if so, you even may be chosen to become an apostle, leading others to the glorious light of truth in that day, when the night of their violent and brutal awakening finally sets!
Then salvation will dawn for those who are truly prepared and patiently awaiting its inevitable victory over the forces of evil.
Until then, true apostles will be rare, and you may be tempted to see them as false or uninspired, unless you are truly wise!
